Hellooooo

Sorry for the lack of updates! I've started my new job, and I am, in a word, overwhelmed. I'm excited yes, and confident that I'll figure out the work and programs fairly rapidly. But this directorate - despite being just one step away from my old job, is a completely different world. Whereas with my old job each person was a cog in the greater machine, this one is more like instruments in a symphony. It's still teamwork but it's so much more independant. On top of that I'm having culture shock: my old office was in a very small 6 floor building tucked away in a leafy neighbourhood, everyone knew everyone and the cafeteria lady knew it was tea in my cup without asking. Here I'm on the 19th floor of a 21 story building, each floor has 4 areas, each area perhaps 30 people. And this building is part of a group of government buildings all collected together in an urban jungle of concrete. If I stay here the rest of my life I still won't meet 1% of the people who work in the complex. The floor layout is confusing, the elevator system is confusing, don't even get me started on
the bus stuff. But I'm not complaining ;)
